Bases in Enfield and Hertfordshire
Where I trained and who I danced for is in the past. Now I dance for today, telling stories with movement and steps I’ve borrowed along the way from ballet, contemporay, jazz and ballroom. I dance to be defiant.
I have 2 cats. Their favourite dance form is butoh.
I have been teaching dance and performing arts in the FE sector for over 25 years. Now is my time to do something for me; to make movement that not only speaks to myself but to an audience. When I dance I use an inner monologue to express something and feel emotions. I dance, I teach, I choreograph, I learn.
I have 2 boys, a husband and a dog. Oh, and I teach Pilates part time!
That was me….
not dancing for the longest time. And now, I’ve escaped like that genie in a bottle and there’s no way I’m going back inside! Moving with expression, manifesting the power of stillness, playing and exploring with choreography is blissful and beyond what can be explained with words. It’s magic embodied. So, bring it on I say!
Oh yes, and I have two dogs!
I’ve danced all my life.
When I was 3 my mother took me to dance classes.
She had wanted to be a dancer, but it wasn’t possible, but she gave me the opportunity. Now dance is so much a part of me, it’s almost like another limb. In the 70s and 80s I performed on TV, films, theatre and cabaret.
Then kids happened — along with a dog, a cat and a husband. Performing is who I am.
‘Watch me’ as I used to say to my mother.
